Blackboard made headlines in July with its entry into the MOOC market via CourseSites, a product that combines elements of Blackboard Learn, Collaborate, Connect, Mobile and xpLor. Since then, competitor Desire2Learn has also announced a MOOC platform, and both LMS providers were preceded by Instructure's Canvas platform.
